Experienced keeper makes move back to East End Park and Gallacher, 31, has penned a 2 year contract with in Pars after leaving for St Mirren in 2009.
Paul Gallacher has made a switch back to East End Park, having kept 25 clean sheets in a 82 appearances during his last spell of the club.
Dunfermline manager Jim McIntyre told for the club's official website: "Paul has been a top goalkeeper over the years and we are delighted to get him and he was sought after by a few other clubs so i am very, very pleased to have secured his signature."
He will now compete for the first-team place with former Saints team-mate Chris Smith and he played in every one of the Dunfermline's First Division matches last season and recently agreed to new deal.
McIntyre added: "It is important that we have two good 'keepers vying for a no.1 spot and Paul's arrival will provide good competition" and Paul Gallacher has sealed his return to SPL newcomers Dunfermline Athletic.
