Simao Sabrosa Retires From Portugal Team

Portuguese player Simao Sabrosa announced that he is now retire from the national team on his public letter to Portugal Football Federation. However, he did not mention the reason behind his decision.

"After a long thought, I believe it's time for me to put an end in my career with national team, and gives room for a new player. No particular reason on why I decided to take this step,"he stated.
Sabrosa is one of the portugal player with most caps. He has appeared 85 times and scored 22 goals since 1998.

It means he will not appear during the 2012 European Cup qualifier.

Nemanja Vidic 'Honoured' To Captain Manchester United

Nemanja Vidic is enjoying the blame of being Manchester United captain, but insists he is just one of a number of leaders in the squad.

Vidic, 28, has led United out in the breach Premier League matches after injury kept out regular skipper Rio Ferdinand and Gary Neville. The move caps a rotate for the Serbia international who had been reported to have grown worried at Old Trafford before he inked a contract addition this summer.

Talking to the club's official website, Vidic bare his pride at the role.

He said: “Being captain is a big attainment and honour for me, and I enjoy the blame.

Liverpool Name Just 21 Players In 25-Man Premier League Squad

Liverpool has named now 21 senior players in their 25-man Premier League match day team.

The new system state that for the 2010-11 Football season, teams have to register a maximum of 17 'non homegrown' and minimum of eight 'homegrown players'. The homegrown players - such as Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole and Jay Spearing - are those taught for three years by any English or Welsh club earlier than the age of 21.
