Goals from David N'gog, Ryan Babel and Maxi Rodriguez fired Liverpool past Aston Villa at Anfield, winning Gerard Houllier's first proficient return to Anfield since disappearance in 2004.
With Fernando Torres unavailble due to his wife going into labour, Babel and N'gog lead the attack and shaped two goals in two minutes to downward Villa by half time.
Maxi Rodriguez grab a third for the Reds in the second half after a good-looking blend with N'gog on the right wing, and fired it past Friedel into the top right hand corner.
