Nani welcomes Young signing and the United winger not worrying about battle for a first-team place

Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha (born 17 November 1986), commonly known as Nani, is a Portuguese footballer currently playing for a winger of a English club Manchester United in Premier League and the Portugal national team  of apredominantly right-footed, he has been utilised on the left-wing on many occasions and was compared to compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo during his move to England and he was born in Cape Verde and emigrated to Europe with his family at an early age and he was raised in Portugal and began his football career playing for local side Real Massama.

Nani insists he welcomes the increased competition at Manchester United following for a signing of the winger Ashley Young from Aston Villa and the United wrapped up a five-year deal for Young last week and the arrival of the England international has sparked speculation over Nani's future at Old Trafford.

The Portugal international was reportedly ready to a seek assurances regarding his role at the United next season after also being left out of the starting line-up for the UEFA Champions League final defeat by Barcelona and the former Sporting Lisbon youngster is not worried about fighting for a first-team spot and feels new additions will boost the Red Devils' quest for silverware next term.

2010 FIFA World Cup: Nani injury dents Portugal hopes

2010 FIFA World Cup: Portugal suffered a major injury blow today after it was announced winger Nani would play no part in the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa after damaging his collar bone.

The Manchester United star is thought to have suffered the injury in training on Friday and will be replaced in the squad by Ruben Amorim, Benfica midfielder. Nani's absence will disrupt the plans of Portugal boss Carlos Queiroz, who was counting on the 23-year-old following an impressive season at Old Trafford.

A statement on the Portuguese Football Federation's official site read: "Following the injury to the left clavicle suffered by Nani, a daily assessment of the damage and the completion of medical tests, we have concluded he is unable to be competitive.
