Cristiano Ronaldo is athlete with the most fans on social network. On his Facebook, he gets over 21 million fans, and for his Twitter, he has more than 2 millions followers. And it's all less than a year.
With his famous name, and a large number of fans, Cris has been crowned as the most effective social networker in sport. According to Christian Hernandez, Head of International Business Development, Cris is handling his Twitter and Facebook well through his personal life, and let the fans get more intimate with him off the pitch.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is the best athlete at self-marketing on social networks" said Hernandez.
"Everyone remembers the shock created by him publishing the first photo of his child on Facebook. Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester United are by far the best clubs at using social networking. Their fans are responding very well."
He also critisized other starts who used a ghost writer to interact with their fans, such as Wayne Rooney.
"Those who use Facebook poorly are those athletes who do not manage their presence themselves - it's as simple as that. For example, Wayne Rooney - it's just not what you would want to hear as a fan," said the Facebook executive.
What he don't realize, is that Cris also used a third-party to update his status. On an interview recently, he has admitted that he wasn't the one who wrote all his status, but other people close to him. But maybe it's because Cris is too famous, people don't really care who wrote the status, as long as it has his name on it.
