Fifa to probe North Korean World Cup team 'punishment'

Fifa, the world's football leading body, has launched an inquiry into claims that Pyongyang punished the coach and players of the North Korean team following the side's dismal recital at the 2010 World Cup.

Previous month, Radio Free Asia said so as to all members of the North Korea squad, separately from two foreign-based players, were subjected to "harsh ideological criticism" after they lost all three matches and approved the highest number of goals by a team at the rivalry.

"We send a letter to the football federation to tell us about their election of a new president and to find out if the accusations made by the media that the coach and some players were fated and punished are true," said Sepp Blatter, the Fifa President.
